I genuinely care about bringing joy to your day. The last marriage proposal I performed for was so fun and exciting. They were huge fans of Taylor Swift, and her music was an important part of their relationship.
I helped the couple create a mashup of two Taylor Swift songs and played as he got down on one knee. I felt so connected to the experience that I actually got nervous for the person proposing, and I couldn't stop smiling when I witnessed her saying yes! My heart was so full! Hi, I'm Sarah Lightman solo recording artist and singing guitarist. Creating a successful event requires an incredible skillset. To bring magic to life from literally nothing can be exhilarating, exciting, but also requires several moving parts. It can feel validating when they work together as a team into something beautiful, an event that people will rave about for years!
Although the dream of it all and the passion that goes into it feels so fulfilling, the process and room for chaos, and all the stories racing through your mind throughout the process can also bring overwhelm along for the ride. I've planned several events in the live music world, planned my first tour, and even hosted multiple group events as well! There's the dates, the venue, the budget, the travel, food, decor, attire, hotels, and then getting the word out to guests can be challenging to balance. I know what it's like to hustle and to question, did I do enough? Will everyone else be able to bring their best to impress? Will it come together the way we all imagined as a group?
All of this work that nobody sees is invested just for one magical day! The live music booking can especially be a challenge. With so much talent to choose from, the songs, the genres, and the question of whether the musicians will be professional, well rehearsed, on time, dressed well, and easy to work with.
